Lied gedateerd wintermaand 1661. Voor commentaar op de melodie zie HsThysius 684.
Bij de wijsaanduidingen wordt ook verwezen naar "W. Sluiter, p. 64"; mede op basis van de uitgebreidere wijsaanduiding in de druk 1679 is duidelijk dat bedoeld is Sluiters Psalmen, lofzangen en geestelijke liederen (zie Sluiter PL1661 024). Aldaar de melodie van 'Gij kooplui die met grote pijn' en twee wijsaanduidingen, waarvan één leidt naar de melodie van 'Engelse fortuin'.
