De genoteerde melodie is niet van een van de Franse liederen, en ook niet van Als wij ver van de Palestijn (zie Harduyn), maar waarschijnlijk een eigen melodie (zie Haeften LusthCL1622 107). Dezelfde combinatie van (Franse) wijsaanduidingen vindt men bij Alouette(1)1619 105. De wijsaanduiding O caeca mens is incipit Haeften LusthCL1622 107 en komt ook voor bij C. de Placker.
