Hy veylig overkwam;

Gezonden hier, 'k wens uyt syn milde hand,

[29] Victory Song about the Peace of Utrecht
In the following song the Peace of Utrecht is presented as a victory for the Netherlands. The Dutch lion in the previous decade, together with the German eagle and the British has racked up one victory after the other.

Victory song, about the making of the Peace, celebrated solemnly at Utrecht on the 11th of April 1713 and on the 14th of June in The Hague.
Tune: Everything one does, one can not, &c.

Come, Netherlanders, now full of delight,
Rejoice over this good Peace,
Weave now green myrtle leaves with laurels,
Be thankful for what has happened to our land.
Come, Batavians, celebrate a merry festival
With heart and soul together,
And praise the name of the Lord.

See the Netherlands' garden expand,
The Lion with seven arrows roaring ferociously
Begin at Nijmegen and behold which areas
He has devoured from year to year:
What rivers, with what pleasures,
He safely crossed;
For him it was as safe as crossing a dam.

He was braided with the Eagle and the Brit
Like a cord; where did they not break through?
Ten years they gained everything they sought
And nothing anywhere stood before their power:
Fort or castle, won with ease,
Yes, cities strong and proud, they forced with fire.

The joy and happiness and rejoicing
Now seen throughout all of the Netherlands,
Now that God has sent peace to our
High and Mighty State, from his generous hand,
Cannot be described, these expressions of joy.
God be thanked for this goodness; the peace must be longlasting.
