Op dit schilderij zien we de twee boerendansinstrumenten bij uitstek, doedelzak en viool, in combinatie. We laten ze het Schager Voetgen spelen, een dans kennelijk uit de kop van Noord-Holland.
In this painting we see a combination of the bagpipes and the violin, the two pre-eminent instruments for rustic dances. They play the so-called Schager Voetgen, obviously named after the town of Schagen in the North of Holland.
