[12] VULCAN'S WORKPLACE
This work for four gambas is an evocation of the workplace of Vulcan, the smith of the Gods. We hear the fanning of the flames and the hammer strokes on the anvil five times. Following the composer's instructions, the chief of the smithy calls out to his workers to "blow" (blaas) and "strike" (sla).
Vulcan's workplace for 2, 3 and 4 violas da gamba. Divided into five "blowings" and five hammer strokes that the chief announces with the word "blaas" for each blowing and with the word "sla" for each hammer stroke Prevent any division of the hammer strokes and strike whilst the iron is hot.
