[16] BINNENKOMST VAN DE KONING
In veel stukken worden de trompetten gestoken als een heerser nadert. In Schouwenbergs Sigismundus (1647) bijvoorbeeld slaat men de trommels en blaast men de trompetten als koning Bazius met zijn hof en raad opkomt. En als in Jacob Duyms Spieghel der Eerbaerheyt (1600) Koning Eduard van de kroning terugkeert, wordt hij voorafgegaan door 'drie ofte vier Trompetters'.
The arrival of the king
In many plays the trumpets sound as a lord approaches. In Schouwenberg's Sigismundus (1647), for example, they beat drums and blow trumpets when King Bazius arrives with his court and council. And as in Jacob Duym's Spieghel der Eerbaerheyt (Mirror of Virtue, 1600) King Eduard returns from the coronation, he is preceded by 'three or four trumpeters'.
