| [19] After an instrumental introduction and with instrumental accompaniment (as the libretto reads) Ceres appears on a wagon decorated with agricultural implements, wheat ears and flowers. She is pulled and surrounded by peasants, both men and women, and forest nymph. Sitting beside her is Iris; in front of her we see children bearing an altar with wreaths and sacrificial gifts [Dance of the Children; gavotte SM 44].
